Water Quality
This page will show data collected by our GPPOA water quality monitors and by Maine DEP. I have some MIDAS/PEARL data that I will be putting up here soon (MIDAS/PEARL is a state maintained database of water quality data)

Check the Secchi page for additional water quality data and information.

We now have a watershed map which shows the area that drains into Georges Pond. Our watershed is very small, only 1.76 square miles.

Not to be alarmist but It Could Happen Here:

Maine lakes in danger of being overtaken by invasive plants

and

here for the 2009 water quality data and an explanation of results collected by the GPPOA water quality monitors.

Check out the Maine Field Guide to Aquatic Phenomena. It was produced by the University of Maine's Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Environmental and Watershed Research. For a PDF copy (730Kb) of the guide click here.
